Green’s Gluten Free Beer

Gluten Free BeerI usually don’t drink alcohol unless it’s a special occasion and even then I tend not too because I have found my stomach is pretty sensitive to alcohol.  If I do drink alcohol it’s usually milk with Kahlua or wine (sweet ones) since they do not contain gluten (usually ingredients like malt or barley that are used in other alcohols).  So it was a surprise when my husband found a company who makes gluten free beer while we were shopping at Whole Foods.

Green’s Gluten Free Beer makes a variety of gluten free beers.  I decided to try their Triple Blonde Ale since my husband likes the lighter ales I thought I might too.  Plus I personally don’t know a whole lot about different ‘regular’ beers because by the time I was old enough to drink, beer was not one that I could try since beer it is made with barley.

So how did it taste?  It was interesting…considering I had never before tasted beer before, I think it was somewhat of a shock to my taste buds!  I love sweet drinks, hence why I usually go for Kahlua.  Honestly, I’m gonna say I did not care for beer.  But, don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing against this brand – I really think I just don’t like beer in general.  Now if you love beer, I’d suggest going to try it, you just might like it!

Keep in mind it contains more alcohol by volume compared to a regular Budweiser!  Green’s Gluten Free Beer – Triple Blonde Ale contains 8.5%  ABV (alcohol by volume), where a Budweiser contains only 5% ABV.  I didn’t realize and just a tiny cup I was pretty surprised it was hitting me so fast, then I read the back and realized it has alot more alcohol then a regular beer!

So that’s my first experience with gluten free beer!  Anyone else try Green’s Gluten Free Beer, or any other GF beers and liked them?

Hi! I discovered I was celiac after 21 and had to give up beer :( , so like you I was excited to find the greens beer. I did not like it! It bears very little similarity to “real” beer – much too sweet and not a very full flavor. I would recommend redbridge as a more “beer-y” GF option – made from sorghum. It’s pretty good. Wasn’t impressed w greens though. I have yet to find a GF beer that doesn’t make me miss blue moon. Ah, well.

Like your site, especially that it’s pink!!! :)

Interesting! I’m always up to try a new GF beer. But if Ashley says it’s really sweet, it might not be my favorite. I had to warm up to the sweetness of Redbridge and Bard’s Tale – I used to like those “bitter” beers before I went GF. I miss Stella! LOL But I’m all for more variety!
